J.S. Gedge-History in the making

J S Gedge was started in 1897 by John Surtees Gedge as a cycle manufacturer at the Silchester Road, St Leonards premises.

Gradually cycles were fitted with engines and he eventually sold motorcycles right up to 1947, when his son David took over. Then in 1969 Trevor Gedge joined the family business and is the present

Managing Director.

Trevor has recently been joined by his son Andrew who is Managing the St. Leonards showroom, here  we retail Kawasaki, Suzuki and Yamaha motorcycles. This site also sells the Piaggio, Vespa and Derbi range of Scooters and Motorcycles from 6 Silchester Road, and we have a seperate workshop just across the road.

In 1975 we purchased the showroom at Pevensey Bay and this is our Triumph dealership, this store has full facilities, including modern workshop, clothing, spares and accessories.

In 1978 the Hastings showroom was aquired and this is dedicated to the Honda franchise, again this showroom has full clothing, accessories, spares and workshop facilities.

We also run a motorcycle training scheme to get you through to the full test or for someone who has passed the test some tim ago and requires further training.
